Adam Green's 'Minor Love' 08/10/09 in Adam Green
As some of you may know, Adam Green has been hard at work all year writing and recording his new album Minor Love, and writing his infamous blog www.thelakeroom.com but the record will finally be released via Rough Trade in UK/Europe on January 8th, 2010 and will feature 14 brand new tracks from “America’s Number 1 Greatest Singer!”. Minor Love found Green enlisting the talents of Rodrigo from Little Joy and other hanger-ons, like his brother Joel (and look-a-likes Joe Steinbrick and Greg from Megapuss). As a taster you can now download What Makes Him Act So Bad, the first track from the new album here.
The album showcases a tender side of the often arrogant and emotionally unavailable bully/singer, Green. In a total state of isolation, Green attempted to play nearly all the instruments on the record, due to incurable social phobias which plagued him. The inspiration for this album lies in Green’s fatalism. Despite a fairly normal upbringing, and a generally optimistic world view, he often contends that nothing lasts… that there is nothing to look forward to…and that “we are all living in a butcher shop,” which Leonard Cohen told him while at a Bar-B-Que at Lou Reed‘s house. Currently Adam is out on tour with The Cribs and has been having an amazing time in the UK! There’s just over a week of shows left on the tour, with many already sold out, so if you’re looking to catch any of the dates you might want to get crackin! The good news for any of you who may be kicking themselves for not paying attention to the dates… is that starting on January 26th Adam will start a full European and UK tour!
