Alela Diane

The video for Alela Diane’s new single ‘Desire’ has arrived! The song was written by Alela and her husband Tom Bevitori who features in the video (he’s the guy strumming on the rooftop, not the drunkard in the bar). “The song is about a woman I know who shall remain anonymous … It’s not about me,” Alela told Spinner. “We shot the video in the Soho area of London. The close-up shots were filmed on a rooftop three roofs down from where Elton John allegedly wrote ‘Your Song’.” The video was directed by Andy Dunn.

“Life is short and death is a hard act to follow”

Alela Diane’s new video ‘The Wind’ was shot and directed by Jason Reid and Darren Lund and filmed around the lush greens of Portland and the Pacific Northwest, including the dunes of Florence, Oregon. The song is taken from her current album ‘Alela Diane & Wild Divine’ and was written in response to a dear friend of Alela’s being randomly murdered. Alela says: “following the incident I had a series of dreams in which an organ was playing itself – or rather a spirit was playing it, I don’t know. The chorus part was written by Tom (Bevitori, Alela’s husband) years ago, and finally found a home in the verses I wrote – a mysterious collaboration, especially given the circumstances.”

Having played a storming gig at London’s Village Underground last night, Alela will now rejoin her friends Fleet Foxes (with whom she toured the US in July) at the following European dates:
