Dear Basia,
For many years I was the manager of ODETTA, and am still the manager of her Estate. My daily Odetta Google refined search has been sending me your regular media articles which have included the wonderful words you have offered about your meeting with Odetta. They are warmly appreciated. What you may not know is that Odetta was slowly dying for quite a long time and was defying all medical explanation as to how she was able to be out of bed and without full-time attachment to her oxygen tank. The performance at the Hugh’s Room you attended was the last performance she ever gave. Ten days later, she went into the hospital for the last time. She fought valiantly, determined to sing at Obama’s Inauguration, but in the end her old heart and frail lungs couldn’t hold on. She loved young artists and always frequented the small clubs in New York to hear them sing and to show them her support. She is smiling on you now. I have been making a documentary on her life for several years now. You will be able to see it at the end of this year. In the spirit of Odetta, may you find your `voice’ and bring inspiration to listeners for years to come. Warm regards, Doug Yeager

Basia,
Humbly, it seems to me, a very unique sound all around. I would suggest very much enjoying it now BECAUSE IT IS UNIQUE and very artistically inspiring. I hope and pray that it is along to journey to you’re even fuller, deepest expresention.
P.S.,,,absolutely a great decision to use your student loan for this is really what it’s for…education in fulfillment.
