Tues 13 Sept: Manchester Briton’s Protection, 50 Great Bridgewater Street, UK
Roy will be reading from Do It For Your Mum – a story of family, music, the Lake District and British Sea Power; the first title on Rough Trade Books. John Robb (The Membranes, Gold Blade, TV kingpin) will be hosting the evening and reading select extracts from his history of Manchester music. Frazer King – fast rising Manchester aggro-folk laureates – will be giving a stripped-down, wired-up acoustic performance. PLEASE NOTE, BSP themselves will NOT be appearing. 8pm-11pm. Weds 14 Sept: The Club Inn, Endmoor, near Kendal, Cumbria, UK
Roy Wilkinson will be reading from Do It For Your Mum. The acclaimed Liverpool poet and author Paul Farley will be reading from his recent book Edgelands (“A fascinating look at the urban-rural interzones” – The Sunday Times) and also reading some of his award-winning poetry (Whitbread Poetry Award; 1999 Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award). There will also be live music – acts TBC. PLEASE NOTE, BSP themselves will NOT be appearing. This night runs 8-11pm. The venue is a nice traditional ‘working men’s club’ – previously Gatebeck Working Men’s Club. The venue is about four miles south of Kendal, just up from Lancaster, right by Junction 36 on the M6. Watch out for the free liquer-filled hot dogs and audio tracks from Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow Rising.
