RECORD COLLECTOR ****

God Help The Girl is a project from one of the UK's most talented song writers, Stuart Murdoch of Belle & Sebastian. The album is comprised of songs written for a film that Stuart has also written but has yet to be shot, if that sounds a little confusing then this introductory video will explain all...

As you'd expect from Stuart it's a brilliantly crafted pop album that takes it cues from musicals, 60's girl groups and classic indie pop from the 80's. It's over arching narrative makes it a listen that will fire your imagination as the array of singers / characters drop in out to tell their parts of the story. Guests include Stuart's own discovery Catherine Ireton, Asya of Smoosh and Neil Hannon of the Divine Comedy. Helping out with the music is the other members of Belle and Sebastian and a 45 piece orchestra conducted by 'Withnail And I' composer Rick Wentworth.
