God Help The Girl play some shows and release EP 21/10/09 in God Help The Girl
Following the release of the self-titled debut album in June, God Help The Girl announce their first (and last) shows in November. These are at the Crossing Border festival in The Hague, the 100 Club in London and the Usher Hall in Edinburgh.
Each show will be unique – in The Hague, they will be appearing with Tegan and Sara; in London at the legendary 100 Club and in Edinburgh in a special BBC Scotland curated show along with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
The 9 piece band includes three of the vocalists who featured on the album – Catherine Ireton, Celia Garcia and Alex Klobouk – and will be playing songs from the album and its counterpart EP, “Stills“. To mark the shows, the EP, which until now was only available to subscribers on 10” vinyl, is now available from iTunes and available to stream on the God Help The Girl website at http://www.godhelpthegirl.com.
The EP features five tracks which were recorded in Glasgow during the same sessions as the album during 2008, with four of the five tracks featuring an orchestra conducted by Rick Wentworth.
I’m In Love With the City (lead vocals: Catherine)
He’s A Loving Kind of Boy (lead vocals: Stuart)
Stills (lead vocals: Alex)
Baby’s Just Waiting (lead vocals: Celia)
The Psychiatrist Is In (lead vocals: Catherine)
Stuart says of the EP:
“In case anyone is thinking that it is 5 duffers that didn’t make the album, it just happens to be the tracks that Catherine and Celia and Alex sang that were less relevant to the film project, so I put them on a separate release . . I wanted the the LP to follow the curve of the proposed movie.”
The script for the film is now finished and there will be one further single from God Help The Girl early next year.
