Pantha du Prince Shares “In An Open Space” Video

German techno auteur Hendrik Weber, aka Pantha du Prince, has shared a video for "In An Open Space" from his new album 'The Triad' (out this Friday 20th May and available to pre-order here). It was directed by Jonas Vahl

Whilst 'The Triad' is a solo Pantha du Prince record (his first since 2010's Black Noise), Scott Mou (Queens), and Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg (The Bell Laboratory) also appear on it and, alongside Weber, are "The Triad". As well as moonwalking and conquering sand mountains in the new video, the trio remove their trademark masks, reflecting Weber's aim on the 'The Triad' - which features the human voice more than any of his previous records - to “open the structure to more human ways of interacting”.

The Triad explain the making of the video: “It was important for us this time to show more of how we interact with each other. The cameraman (Cedric Retzmann) did a great job of shooting the planned scenes as well as capturing us candidly when we weren't looking/'acting'. He showed us as we are with each other: basically that we know and like each other! We wanted to interact with each other and the space in a more natural way and he did a great job of making that happen.

A photographer friend of Hendrik's (Antje Taiga ) suggested the old concrete factory to us. We tried to use some of the less monumental part of the space (small hills and corners) as well as the chimneys, the temple-like interior space and the high elevated spaces. The field was so fun for us as the movements were determined by each of us taking turns calling out movements drill-Sargent style. We took the movements from Winterhymn (thanks to choreographer Alex Roccoli) and simplified them. We love the shots where we collapse into each other like a closing flower and where we bolt and run from the center. The last shot of the day was the guerrilla-style scene in the sand hills and dunes. We already looked like space ninjas so running into the space at dusk, hiding between trees with the camera crew and "conquering" the sand hill was so much fun."

Pantha du Prince has announced a performance at the Montreal Jazz Festival on 3rd July, and will be playing festivals and headlining shows throughout Europe in May, including Primavera Sound Festival.
