The Hold Steady To Release Heaven Is Whenever On Limited Edition Vinyl For Record Store Day
The Hold Steady will release a highly limited number of vinyl copies of their new album Heaven Is Whenever (Rough Trade / Vagrant Records) on April 17 as part of Record Store Day, complete with custom screen printed artwork. The extremely limited run of the album will only be available in independent record stores participating in Record Store Day. Heaven Is Whenever will officially be released on CD, vinyl and digitally on May 3rd.
The album was produced by Dean Baltulonis, who engineered the band’s Almost Killed Me and produced Separation Sunday. Singer Craig Finn says Heaven Is Whenever is about “embracing suffering and understanding its place in a joyful life. The lyrics speak a lot about struggle and reward.” Piano and keys take a backseat to guitar on the new record, which also gets production help from guitarist Tad Kubler.
The Hold Steady have added an appearance at Summer Fest in Milwaukee on July 1 to their touring schedule. Full list of confirmed tour dates are here.
AHH!! I just called one of my local shops, Repo Records, in Philadelphia, and they said they only got one of these shipped in, and its already been reserved. I am seriously waking up at 8 am and waiting outside of another store in hopes to get this limited edition. Can’t you just send me one in the mail? It would make my life so much easier. And I know its good that THS are making money, touring the world, and earning the play they deserve in the music scene. BUT! “its good to be back in a bar band baby”- The Hold Steady is not the same band from a few years ago. When they used to be hanging out in the bar before the show. Bring a tall pint on the stage with them. I remember Tad was so wasted he fell into the drum kit, and then played the rest of the show sitting on the edge of the stage. I remember them in detroit, playing on a a foot tall stage, and the crowd flooding the stage. I just miss the days when they werent seated shows, or behind a huge barrier. I used to feel like I was watching rock & roll history unfold before my eyes.
