        Palma Violets Release 'Last Of The Summer Wine' Music Video 22 October 2012 in Palma Violets

        Palma Violets’ debut single ‘Best of Friends’ and its flipside ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ are out today! You can buy them digitally on iTunes or on limited edition CD single or purple vinyl from our Rough Trade Store.

        To celebrate the release the London four-piece have made an official music video for ‘Last of the Summer Wine’. Watch it here:

        The video was filmed and directed by Gina Birch of former Rough Trade band The Raincoats who also made many of The Libertines’ music videos. Whilst ‘Best of Friends’ is sung by bassist Chilli Jesson, ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ is sung by co-frontman and guitarist Sam Fryer and was recorded with Pulp’s Steve Mackey.

        Sam Fryer (vocals/guitar), Chilli Jesson (vocals/bass), Pete Mayhew (keyboard) and Will Doyle (drums) are currently in the middle of their first UK headline tour, the remaining dates of which are:

        A few months ago Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros posted a message on Genero’s website asking fans to make music videos for whichever songs from their new album HERE they are inspired by. The winner’s video would be made the official music video for that track and receive $5,000.

        The band are now happy to announce that the winner is Michał Byra for his brilliant visual interpretation of the album track ‘Child’. Check it out:

If you’re wondering about the hanging baskets and tasteful wood paneling, they belong to Jordan’s parents who kindly loaned the band their kitchen for the occasion.

        The video for Alela Diane’s new single ‘Desire’ has arrived! The song was written by Alela and her husband Tom Bevitori who features in the video (he’s the guy strumming on the rooftop, not the drunkard in the bar). “The song is about a woman I know who shall remain anonymous … It’s not about me,” Alela told Spinner. “We shot the video in the Soho area of London. The close-up shots were filmed on a rooftop three roofs down from where Elton John allegedly wrote ‘Your Song’.” The video was directed by Andy Dunn.

All proceeds went to Housing Works, the charity fighting to end AIDS and homelessness. To contribute to the cause simply watch a song (or two – the more you watch the more you donate!).         Shot on London’s Brick Lane, the video was directed by Luke Seomore and Joseph Bull and produced by Hannah Lack and Luke Seomore. It is inspired by iconic French director Henri-Georges Clouzot’s unfinished 1964 film L’Enfer.
